Calvin dominating the DGPT, winning Jonesboro, once again

Calvin with another statement win.

The MPO field was shredding the course and sixteen players recorded a score of 10-under or better in Round 2, The low scores from the first two rounds making the course look too easy. But then the wind showed up in the final round on championship sunday which made the scores drop significantly.

Calvin shooting back-to-back -13 the first two rounds was tied for the lead with Eagle McMahon going in to the final round. "My game plan for the day was to be aggressive and go full throttle.” This gameplan was on full display, running several long putts with danger lurking both in regard to roll-aways and OB. But Calvin was cooler than the other side of the pillow, and cashed his long downhill eagle putt on hole 16, which made it a two-man race tied with Eagle going in to the last two holes.

Both players took par on hole 17 and Calvin stepping up to the tee on eighteen and managed to stay in the fairway even though he overshot his drive but it pushed through back onto the fairway. Eagle, who birdied hole 18 the previous two rounds with his enormous hyzer route from the tee. Eagle opting for the same route but a crosswind denied the fade of his disc which caused him to go OB in a early bad position, and Eagle was unable to get in position for his par. From there Calvin just played smart golf taking the par and taking down Jonesboro for a third time, second consecutive win at the event.
